New Gear Alert: Rode Launches New iPhone/iPad Mic

Now most have given great scrutiny to the use of the iphone within professional creative services, but for me it provides a quick and easy option to capture something which you might normally never have grabbed. Not convinced? Well the interview audio on the Crime In Stereo ‘I Am Everything I Am Not’ video was recorded on an iphone 3GS. Had I not had that device I wouldn’t have got the interview I did, nor would the video have been the same. This microphone is an ideal addition to the recording capabilities of devices you already have if you’re not able to spend out on a zoom H4n or other recording device. It’s something I would definitely have in my arsenal of equipment and I can visualise it being used for a lot of different and useful applications. Head on over to the rode site now for further information by clicking the below link:

The best iPad dock in the world? Probably. I’d be on board if I had an iPad.

Deffo gonna be me and Griffiths in a few years. Discussing stuff with clients, showing them our work. People slated me for saying I wanted an ipad when they came out, but I think anyone that said that, clearly has NO business sense at all. Clients want you sharp and up to date, and what would look better than unfolding what looks like a book, but is in fact an ipad, to show clients your videos/photos.
Actually wait wait wait. I hold my hand up, the idea of ‘just use a laptop’ is way cooler. I mean the client’s gonna respect you more while you pull out your battered piece of shit laptop with files all over the desktop, and a shitty background…… Over a slick, streamlined amazing piece of tech…….. get real.
If you wanna be a backstreet minimalist creative, brilliant. But don’t expect the big dogs to be knocking at your door unless you’re a true demi-god. I have no problem with that at all, I respect it (really). But if you wanna be a respected cutting edge creative, look the part, never be afraid to promote yourself, and keep up with the times (and I want the latter. Well, until I’m 60, and then I’ll be a bearded old fart, living by a beach, hobbling down the rocks to go surfing with my 9 foot longboard and making awesome things in my small studio beside my house).
So yea, iPad, it’s coming my way when the new one comes out.
